چکیده

Content-based routing realized through static networksof brokers usually exhibit nice performance when sub-scribers with similar interest are physically close to eachother (e.g. in the same LAN, domain or in the same ge-ographical area) and connected to a broker which is alsonearby. If these subscribers are dispersed on the Inter-net, benefits of such routing strategy significantly decrease. In this paper we present a Topology Management System(TMS), a component of a content-based pub/sub broker. Theaim of a TMS is to mask dynamic changes of the brokers’topology to the content-based routing engine. TMS relies ona self-organizing algorithm whose goal is to place close (interms of TCP hops) brokers that manage subscribers withsimilar interests keeping acyclic the topology and withoutcompromising network-level performance. TMS is also re-silient to broker failures and allows brokers join and leave.

Recent Developments in Discrete Event Systems

This article is a brief exposure of the process approach to a newly emerging area called "discrete event systems" in control theory and summarizes some of the recent developments in this area. Discrete event systems is an area of research that is developing within the interstices of computer, control and communication sciences. The basic direction of research addresses issues in the analysis an...

Partial Observation in Distributed Supervisory Control of Discrete-Event Systems

Distributed supervisory control is a method to synthesize local controllers in discrete-eventsystems with a systematic observation of the plant. Some works were reported on extending this methodby which local controllers are constructed so that observation properties are preserved from monolithic todistributed supervisory control, in an up-down approach. In this paper, we find circumstances in ...

Third International Workshop on Self-Adaptive and Self-Organising Socio-Technical Systems (SASO2015)

The design and operation of computer systems has traditionally been driven by technical aspects and considerations. However, the usage characteristics of information and communication systems are both implicitly and explicitly determined by social interaction. This requires taking into account different types of relationships, such as trust or affinity, between the users and system components. ...
